                                ORDINANCE NO. 9518
        
        
                   AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 6958, AS
                   AMENDED, THE ZONING ORDINANCE, SO AS TO
                   AMEND ARTICLE V, SECTION 507 AND 607 RELATIVE
                   TO OUTDOOR STORAGE.

              	   WHEREAS, the Chattanooga Building Inspection
         Department has requested an amendment to the Chattanooga Zoning 

         Ordinance to provide for more specific regulations for the
         control of "outdoor storage" in commercial zones; and
              	   WHEREAS, the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional
         Planning Commission has reviewed a proposed amendment to the
         Chattanooga Zoning Ordinance.
                                 NOW, THEREFORE,
              	   BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
         CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That Ordinance No. 6958, as amended, 
the
         Zoning Ordinance, be and the same is hereby amended as follows:
              	   SECTION 1.  That Article V, Section 507 and 607 be
         amended by deleting the following sentence:
                   "Outdoor storage of new and used merchandise,
                   materials, household goods and appliances,
                   industrial salvage, construction materials,
                   and commercial and industrial equipment,
                   except live nursery items."
                  
         	   SECTION 2.	  That the following paragraph be
         substituted in lieu thereof:
                   "Any outdoor storage of equipment of
                   merchandise shall be limited to 20% of the
                   base square footage of the allowed use, such
                   area shall be contained by fence, a minimum of
                   six (6) feet high, and shall not encroach upon
                   the required parking area.  Additional parking
                   requirements shall be required for the outdoor
                   use.  (Building/Structure Base square footage
                   and outdoor use 3D Total square footage for
                   Parking Requirement.)
                  
         	   SECTION 3.  BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that this Ordinance
         shall take effect two weeks from and after its passage as
         required by law.
